5/13/09--Stroke and blood clot

Hi everyone,
Dad wanted me to email you and let you know what's going on with us. Kathy had a stroke and blood clot in her arm on Wednesday. They removed the blood clot and her arm is still swollen and painful but gradually getting better. Her MRIs and CT scans show that there has been no additional bleeding. The stroke was in the part of the brain that affects balance. We won't know how much she was affected until she is able to get up and into therapy. She is finally starting to come off the drugs and be more cognizant. She is talking and able to move all of her limbs weakly now. She is still in ICU but we hope to move to a regular room this week. As I'm sure you know, we have a long road of tests and physical therapy ahead of us.
You can send cards to the house and we will take them to the hospital.
