Today, Kathy stood on her feet for the first time on her own! She was able to transfer herself from the wheel chair to a seat in the physical therapy room. She was able to use her arms to pull herself up. They put a railing in front of her that she could grip. She stood on her feet and supported her own weight and didn't have any pain in her feet like she had last time they tried to get her on her feet. She was able to scoot the couple feet from the wheel chair to the seat with only a little assistance from the therapists. This is a huge positive step. Our family can't thank all of you enough for your prayers to get us to this point. Of course, there's still a long way to go.
Other things are coming along. The catheter has stayed out and those organs are starting to work again, too. She's still recovering from this nasty little cold. They actually did an intense breathing treatment and put her on oxygen last night. That has helped her tremendously.
In other news, that doesn't seem nearly as exciting, I finally got the right container for bringing food. As a family we had sloppy joes for dinner tonight. I can microwave this thermos at work before I head to the nursing home and it keeps food warm for up to 5 hours. It worked like a charm.
